Dear MMDs, A large auction of automata and mechanical music
instruments will take place in Chartres (a fine city one hour west
of Paris, France) as usual (two specialized auctions a year, in May
and December) on Sunday, May 20th, starting at 2 p.m.
Ca 200 lots :
Many fine automatas by Decamps, Roullet-Decamps, Lambert (Pierrot
serenading the moon), Phalibois, Renou (a magician clown),
Vichy (The famous and rare bird trainer, and a magic cupboard),
Vichy-Triboulet (a clown juggling on a barrel, and two impertinent clowns),
Michel Bertrand (Pierrot as a writer), etc.
In mechanical music :
Several Black Forest organ clocks
Several organettes and barrel pianos.
Good disc (Polyphon, Fortuna, etc.) and cylinder musical boxes
(a few early ones with separate teeth, some good early snuffboxes),
