Dear All, Whilst I cannot help with Bruce Newman's motor problem (I
am sure that enough competent people will be writing with a solution),
I want to share some information about Crompton-Parkinson motors.
C.R. Crompton had an Aeolian Pipe Organ, Op. 1191 of 1911, in his
house in Derby. He was an electrical manufacturer, and the products
of the firm of British Organ Blowers ("BOB Co"), also of Derby, in
my experience were usually equipped with Crompton-Parkinson motors.
I have often wondered if he founded the blower firm as a result of his
interest in the pipe organ.
The house still stands, and is now a nursing home. The organ? Well,
that is there too, one of the very few extant Aeolians in its original
location. Alas, it does not work very well, but could be restored
without too much trouble. I doubt if it will be, however.
The Crompton-Parkinson motor on my Aeolian Op 1431 was supplied in
1948, and gave excellent service throughout my period of ownership.
Regards,
Paul Morris
