Perhaps this is related in the history of the Disney enterprise,
but Walt Disney used to take his two daughters to Griffith Park
in Los Angeles, where they would ride the carousel. This inspired
him to plan a "kiddie park" at the studio in Burbank. Well, that
idea, in combination with some financing from Paramount, grew into
what became Disneyland in Anaheim, California, which opened in 1955.
When Andrew V. Bowers, son of my wife Christie and I, was born,
December 8, 1979, on one of his first out-of-door trips with his
parents we took him over to Griffith Park and held him on a horse
while it circled around, with the Wurlitzer 165 playing.
