Henry Holland of London, Barrel Organ Builder
By Brian Chesters

Hello MMD, The chamber barrel organ I listed on eBay has now been
identified as by the maker Henry Holland of London. I have done
a little cleaning and adjustment to the organ and it is now playing
after being silent for 50 or more years.

Henry Holland was nephew to the organ builder Pyke and, on Mr Pyke's
death in 1779, Henry went into business with Mrs Pyke. Henry's son
went on to found the world famous "Holland and Holland" gun smiths
in the nineteenth century.

One notable organ produced by Henry Holland was installed at Trinity
Church on Wall Street in New York. I wonder if this organ is still
there. Also, are there any other Henry Holland organs extant today?
