Source of Recut Duo-Art Rolls
By Julian Dyer

I can offer at least one source of recut Duo-Art rolls, albeit not in
the USA! Have a look at my web site, www.pianorolls.co.uk. I've now
got about 60 rolls on the list, mostly from things that folks have
asked to have recut: some very nice rolls, some rare ones as well
(hopefully nice as well). The list is gradually building up.

In principle, anything that can be located and scanned, or has a decent
scan available from somewhere, can be cut. A pretty significant part
of the Duo-Art catalogue can probably be accessed one way or the other.
Any of these can be ordered as a custom batch of four rolls, as can
anything withdrawn from the 'off the shelf' list -- which I hope strikes
the right balance between having a house full of unsold rolls and the
annoying habit of restricting cutting runs so you miss the roll if you
don't get in quick enough.

All of these are made from "replica master rolls" so should be exactly
the same as the originals -- at least, as far as Warren Trachtman's
master-recreation software and some judicious hand-crafting can get it,
which is remarkably good. The rolls have the correct small-sized
"snakebite" accenting perforations as well, thanks to using a dedicated
Duo-Art / Themodist punch bar.

The downside: postage from the UK is higher and the exchange rate from
the USA is not conducive to brisk trade at the moment.
