Skinner's upcoming auction of mechanical music and automata takes place
in Boston on Saturday 24 March. The sale features a particularly
strong collection of good cylinder musical boxes, including an Ami
Rivenc revolver, a Nicole Grand Format, several overture boxes, and
key-winds by Nicole frères. Also included will be the collection of a
longtime MBSI member, the late Vern Voss, whose family intends to
donate the proceeds to the Technical Training Fund of the Oregon
Community Foundation.
Other highlights include a number of fine automata by Gustave Vichy,
Lambert, Henry Phalibois, Tharin, and Roullet & Decamps, disc boxes
including 25-inch Kalliope with bells, 24 1/2-inch Polyphon, a
multitude of Reginas, and a large 38-key barrel organ by Molinari &
Sons playing all-American tunes. The catalogue will be available
