[ I asked Spencer if he could suggest a really simple method for
[ wireless MIDI. -- Robbie
Greetings Robbie, In terms of wireless MIDI that would work for a
notebook to piano interface, there is only one affordable device: the
"MidAir" made by M-Audio. It uses a battery powered transmitter and
the battery only lasts something like 12 hours so you need to keep
batteries handy especially if you forget to turn it off when not in use.
The big problem, however is that it needs a MIDI signal from the
computer so you need a USB-to-MIDI interface at the notebook computer
besides the wireless transmitter. This is a considerable pile of stuff
to strap to your computer.
The MidAir was really designed for connecting a MIDI guitar or other
instrument to a computer or synth, not for connecting a notebook to
anything else. There are other commercial wireless MIDI devices that
I did check out at one time but they are expensive and bulky, not
suited to notebook use either.
Best regards,
