Recent postings about soldering a nipple back onto a tracker bar
reminded me of a story a friend told me once. During their
apprenticeship they were given a dozen 4" pieces of fuse wire and
told to solder them into a cube.
Not an easy task for a novice as each corner of the cube is a junction
of three wires and if you let the corner you are working on get too hot,
the fuse wire conducts sufficient heat to melt the solder and pop the
joint at the other end that you just painstakingly soldered together!
It took my friend a week to accomplish the task but they never had any
difficulty soldering after that.
