Making Trumpet Pipes With Free Reeds
By Nigel Perry

I would just like to say a big 'thank you' to everyone who has
contributed their advice on this subject. Most people feel that
there is no reason not to use them, although the sound will be
quieter and more mellow.

Given that the Orchestrelle uses just this system with a strange
wooden resonator to create a trumpet-ish sound, it's worth giving
it a go. It is loud too. The answer is obviously to 'suck it and
see', or in this case, blow! I will post the result when I have
done some experimenting.

Many thanks to all,
Best wishes,
Nigel Perry
