Rebuilding Early Kimball Player Piano Action
By Richard Moody

If anyone has hands-on rebuilding experience with early Kimball
player piano stacks, I would like to ask a few questions. This one
has the large screws in front (under a cover) that regulate the bleeds.
At first look I thought they were primaries.  : ){

The valve seats (lower) are felt washers glued to a "fibre washer"
with pneumatic cloth glued over top (Player Piano Co. part # 767 and
768). The valves have a Bakelite(?) guide that is threaded into the
deck and covered with wax, _but_ is also sealed with shellac or hide
glue. They are so tight they break when I try to turn them out.

Since I can't turn them out I can't clean or adjust them. I am
thinking I shouldn't continue with this rebuild and take my loss
before another 10 to 20 hours of fruitless rebuilding and testing.

If anyone can advise me on this particular Kimball player piano I sure
would appreciate it. I will consider it an hour (at least)
consultation which I would gladly pay or trade for.
