Seek Musician to Play Cremona Photoplayer
By Stacey Gordon

My name is Stacey Gordon and I am the artistic director of the
Virginia City Players in Virginia City Montana. We are a 58 year old
summer stock company who specialize in 19th century theatrical drama
and vaudeville.

We are blessed to have a _working_ 1918 Marquette Cremona Photoplayer
in our music pit, it does require some knowledge and organ skill to be
played well but probably nothing daunting to a fine musician.

Our pianist spends the summer with us performing a solo half hour
pre-show each performance with loads of razzle dazzle and lots of
personality, and accompanies the vaudeville as well as providing
underscoring for the one hour dramas.

It is a job that requires working knowledge and ability in ragtime,
stride, tin-pan alley and some classical base as well as being able
to provide stylized excerpts for the underscoring (much like a silent
film only not as constant) and of course good sight reading and
transposition skills are always necessary for the vaudeville performers.
The acting company are trained actor-singer-dancers, there are eight of
them in addition to a technical staff.

The season runs in repertory with all three different shows being put
up into a rotation by the end of June. The position runs from mid-May
through Labor Day (the first Sunday in September we are done) and pays
$500 per week (US) with lodging provided.

I am hoping you can pass this along to anyone you know who you think
might be interested. I am sending this out to everyone I can find that
might be interested. My last pianist is the senior organist at the Fox
Theatre in Detroit and has recently been hired in a full time capacity
there so he will not be returning.

Virginia City is a real live working Old West town in the mountains
of Montana, 6800 feet in the air! It is the third largest tourist
attraction after Yellowstone National Park (one hour away) and Glacier
National Park (five hours away). It is home to the world's largest
placer gold mining strike in 1863 and still retains the flavor of the
Old West -- cowboys, miners and all! For more information on the area
please visit http://www.virginiacitychamber.com and

Thank you for your time, I hope to hear from you!
