Pass On Your Knowledge
By Bob Stewart
Each year we loose a few more of our collector friends from the hobby
and this list. With them goes a great deal of knowledge. We all need
to start writing down what we have learned from our involvement in the
hobby. Our generation is the one that got to talk to some of the
people who were directly involved with the production and sales of the
instruments. If we don't document those conversations they will be
lost one day.
More of us need to follow Bob Taylor's example of documentation on what
he has learned about his organ rolls. Not that it's necessary needed
by someone today, but the information will be in the archives when
needed. Don Teach also shared a conversation he had that otherwise
would have been lost.
I will be working on documenting what I have learned from rebuilding
a couple of Western Electric Selectra's and then I owe AMICA an article
about my upright Ampico B. Has anybody else learned anything that
ought to be written down so it can be passed on?
