Gaskets Under Pneumatics
By Paul Camps

Hi, The Aeolian Co., to my experience, always used thin leather
under their striker motors, and this in my opinion this was good
practise. It made for the easy removal of those motors (pneumatics).
When I encountered other makes and found that the motors were glued
wood-to-wood, I quickly experimented and came up with the idea of
using paper.

Where there was any doubt about the security of the joint I introduced
another modification: I drilled an access hole through the moving board
and screwed and glued the fixed board down, and sealed the access port
with a rubber cloth disc. It will work well whether you use hot glue
or PVA glue. Okay, it's not restoration, but it sure will make future
removal a piece of cake.
