Rebuilding Ampico "A" Secondary Valves
By Pat DeWitt

Hi All, I have learned all kinds of details about redoing Ampico "A"
secondary valves but this one has escaped me. What is the best way
to get the metal rings out? I have done it previously on two Ampico
"A"s by simply cracking the shellac all around the edge of the metal
ring with a knife blade and gently lifting the ring out, (carefully
so it does not distort).

However, the valve set I am working on now seems to have a much heavier
application of shellac around the ring and it will take a long time to
cut away enough to free up the ring. Does anyone know of a better way?

Thanks and Happy New Year!
Pat DeWitt
