I have an old Symphonion No. 110 disc music box that has a brass gear
in the power train that slips, and I need to find someone who can
repair it. This gear measures about 3-1/4 inches across and the center
has a separate piece pressed into it that is slipping within the gear.
This center piece attaches to the spring shaft and there is a pin that
goes through the shaft and this center piece to firmly attach them
together. The outer edge of the gear drives the governor, so when the
governor is stopped the entire spring pressure is exerted on this gear,
which apparently over time has caused the pressed-on center piece to
loosen and now it slips. I can't wind up the music box because this
slips.
The center piece needs to be firmly attached to the gear so that it
would be impossible for it to slip. I can supply photos of the gear.
Can anyone recommend a repair person, preferably within the U.S.?
Thanks,
Greg Farmer
