Terry Smythe puts forth a very valid point that many rolls that
cannot be played on player pianos can still be rescued. I, too,
have an extreme hesitancy to throwing anything out. I repaired
a roll after three hours of taping (acid free) and found the roll
is still bad, but it's able to be scanned again!
What also should be noted: Do not throw out roll boxes, because
some roll companies put extra information on the outside labels for
one reason or the other, such as performers, numbers, and various
tidbits. You may not even have the roll for it, but it could be
worth scanning on a flat-bed to offer to roll archivers.
Happy New Year All!
