Dear MMDs, In Chartres (France), a quiet old city one hour by train
or by car from Paris and two large international airports, there are
for many years now two mechanical music auctions per year conducted
by Galerie de Chartres, and you can see the catalogues of the next,
and the past auctions on the MMD web site.
The next auction is on Sunday, Dec. 3d 2006, beginning at 2 P.M.
Amidst the highlights (about 250 lots) are :
- Many fine automatas by Gaston Decamps (a Cambodian female dancer),
Roullet-Decamps (Clown on a frame, the female conjuror), Lambert,
Théroude (magician), Vichy (a clown with a diabolo, a Japanese lady),
etc.;
- Good disc (Regina, Stella, etc.) and cylinder musical boxes
(an interchangeable by Billon Haller);
- Fine musical picture-clocks;
- Singing birds (Bontems) and many musical novelties;
- A fine 52 keys Gasparini, an organ by Quetron, organettes and
barrel pianos;
- Fine barrel parlour organs, perroquettes and serinettes;
- Phonographs and rare records, arcade machines, postcards
and documentation.
The day before (Saturday, Dec 2d) there is a large auction of
