Hi, I'm a piano technician in Conway, Massachusetts. I have
a customer who wants to get rid of an old (approx. 1896) Chickering
grand, containing a Welte-Mignon player mechanism, which is in
non-functioning condition.
I am not a player tech and was surprised to find a player mechanism
in such an early piano. It is six foot three, serial no. 86015.
It has a "square" tail (the rim has two joints, it is not a continuous
bent rim). It's an unusual case and I think an attractive one (in
a kind of burly maple-looking finish, and with a perfect set of
ivories). I have no idea if anyone might be interested in such
a thing, but if you have any questions about it you can contact me.
