The Eastern States Exposition ("The Big E") features not one, not two,
but three real organs on its grounds. All are MIDI-controlled organs
made by Stinson. Larry Kern has played there for many years. Inspired
by the popularity of Larry’s organ, "The Ambassador," fair management
has acquired a large Stinson organ of their own to play at a gate at the
opposite end of the fairgrounds. Finally, the amusement operator plays
another very large Stinson organ on the midway near the carousel. In
addition, there were two calliopes featured in the daily parade on the
fairgrounds.
I have to imagine that the Big E is one of the most organ-friendly fairs
in the U.S. I've thought about approaching the management about hosting
an organ rally sometime during the fair.
