Help Identify Tunes on Carrousel Music's Tapes
By Mark Chester

One more tune identification project.

I have a large collection of recordings produced by Dr. Bill Black of
Carrousel Music, Chambersburg, Pa. Bill is a friend of mine, and I don't
think I need to slip in a shameless plug for his products, as I am sure
that all of you are familiar with them. I am planning on completing my
collection soon and will bring that goal closer to attainment when I
schedule my next dental appointment in the near future.

When Bill produced some of his recordings, tune titles for some or all of
the tunes on a few of the rolls being recorded were not available. These
are thoughtfully listed in his tape or CD content listings by the tune
tempo, such as "Waltz," "Foxtrot," or "March."

To the extent that the titles are now known, I would like to compile this
information and make it available to others who own Bill's tapes and CDs.
I have begun by compiling all of the titles that I myself can identify.
But I need some help.

Is there anyone out there who can identify any of the relatively few
unidentified titles from Carrousel Music products? If so, please send
me (off-list) the title, along with the tape or CD catalog number, and
CD track number, or in the case of a tape, enough information for me to
know which tune it is.

I have been compiling a complete database of Carrousel Music output,
beginning with data from the online catalog, but I want to fill in the
blanks, so to speak, and make that information available. I need to go
through what I have compiled so far and highlight what was previously
unknown but now identified, to save folks the trouble of repeating my
completed effort. From memory, however, I can say that all of the tunes
on GW165-1 and GW165-2, as well as W180-1, have been identified.
