It is good to see the Welte at Disneyland with the bass drum and
percussion back in operation! I was in the ice cream parlor there on Main
Street and heard the machine from a distance. I didn't listen to it up
close, so I couldn't tell how well it was playing. Disneyland seems to
like the music quiet and in the background. I think there are only a few
ranks of pipes playing.
I was thinking how great it would be if they had a special room on Main
Street where a few nicely restored instruments could reside, like a
concert room. Wouldn't that be great? I wish Disneyland would put more
priority on keeping these instruments playing in good shape. They
definitely have the resources.
But still, it's nice to walk down Main Street, look in the Penny Arcade,
and see the Welte there.
