What Companies Made Player Pipe Organ Rolls?
By Tom Hutchinson
Several weeks ago an announcement appeared on MMD of a built-in player
pipe organ for sale in Hendersonville, N.C. I bought the organ.
My brother and I drove his 14-foot van down from Indianapolis to North
Carolina, disassembled the organ and transported it back to Columbia,
Mo. Mr. Don Scheetz and his wife, Alice, could not have been nicer folks
with which to deal. The organ practically filled the truck. It has
been completely set up, has been tuned, and is now playing beautifully.
Several organ rolls with the brand name Oktave came with the organ. The
tracker bar on this player organ is a piano tracker bar. These Oktave
organ rolls have arrangements that are clearly superior to piano rolls.
Can readers tell me what other companies made arrangements for organ music
rolls that play on a standard piano tracker bar? Do any readers have
any of these rolls for sale?
