Deodorizing an Instrument
By John Klungle

I just purchased a Starr upright player piano in a very nice original
tiger oak case. The case of the piano is one of the nicer that I have
seen in a long time and I plan on keeping it original.

The piano was moved to a garage about two months before I purchased
it and in that short time it became the temporary residents of several
mouse families. I removed the key bed and cleaned the left over mouse
do from the piano and used a special cleaner that guaranteed it would
remove any animal smell. To make a long story short, the cleaner
worked for a couple of days and now the smell is coming back.

Does anyone know of a cleaner that will remove this type of smell from
the wood? Last night I put two open boxes of baking soda in the piano
hoping it will help capture and remove the odor. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much,
John Klungle
