The ingenuity of the folks within our mechanical music community
never ceases to amaze me. About a year ago, Richard Canedo had
some family piano rolls that he wanted converted into MIDI. Not
having a roll scanner, and the probability of entanglement with
Canada Customs, provoked him into determining a unique method of
achieving his desired MIDI files using a common flat bed scanner,
PhotoShop, a nifty utility developed by Anthony Robinson, and
Warren Trachtman's CIS Conversion utility.
Upon some encouragement, Richard has documented his method of
scanning music rolls and converting them into MIDI. Through the
