Unlisted Duo-Art 176-note Pipe Organ Roll 3335
By Bob Taylor

I have added a few comments to my web site about the uncataloged roll,
3335. Here are those comments...

Roll 3335 gives rise to some speculation. Aeolian often grouped
recordings of artists in "nearly" consecutive roll numbers. Using
that scheme as a guide, it appears that roll 3335 was recorded by
Chandler Goldthwaite, as the numbers 3331, 3333, 3337, and 3339,
are all by that artist. The even numbers in that range are not
assigned, and 3335 is exactly in the center of the group.

In Rollin Smith's research, he notes that Goldthwaite is the most
prolific organ roll artist who recorded for Skinner and others.

This copy of 3335 has one glaring error. The initial stops drawn
include the Pedal String, 16' F which is so out of place that it
ruins the music. By changing the coding to the adjacent hole,
the Swell String F is drawn which seems to be the intended stop.

The complete page, which shows the box labels and has a more complete
discussion, can be viewed at
