Mystery Barrel Organ in Israel
By Eliyahu Shahar

I would like to add a few pieces of information to Vincent Morgan's
posting [060804 MMDigest]. Nisan Cohen's organ, I believe, is called
an "orgue de barbarie". It has four barrels, 17 notes x 3 ranks with
metal pipes. The case is plain with removable panels on the front
and sides. I have a picture if anyone can help with identification.

The bomb that Vincent had mentioned hit actually two doors away from
the building where the organ was housed so no damage was sustained
(priorities, please!). While Nisan is close to Haifa -- a city that
has sustained several missiles -- there have not been any that have
threatened him or his collection.

Regards,
Eli Shahar
