I wish to add my praise for the Chicago AMICA convention. The event
was well-planned and well-organized. The tours were interesting and
the hosts were very welcoming. The workshops were informative and
given on an easy-to-understand level. The workshop presenters were
knowledgeable and willing to answer questions.
I met a number of individuals whom I have known only by name through
MMD. It was good to finally connect a name with a face and get to know
them in person. There were many others whom I had met at previous
conventions but had not seen for some time; it was nice to get
reacquainted with them.
There were many memorable experiences at the convention but I will only
highlight one: the concert by Nathan Bello. Every time I hear him
play, I am awed by the talent of this young man.
There were so many individuals who made the convention a success, it
would be impossible to name them all without inadvertently omitting
someone. Instead, I will sum up the success of the convention by
relating an experience I had. A first-time convention-goer stopped me
and said that he had seen me repeatedly over the past few days. He
noted that each time he had seen me I was smiling and enthusiastic.
That in turn made him happy. This is the kind of impression we need
to project to others. If we appear to be happy and enthused about our
hobby, others will want to join us too.
Thank you everyone for the great time. See you at a future convention!
