This is my first posting on MMD, a great forum with which I've just
recently become acquainted. Very impressive, well done, and
interesting.
I recently contacted Mechantiques in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and am
buying the beautiful 24-1/2-inch Mermod Freres cylinder box showcased
on their web site. I've only ever owned one of these before -- years
ago, from the Larry Givens Collection -- and it is nice to capture
another.
If anyone has a listing of cylinders and titles for this, circa the
1890s, I would be grateful for the information. As is probably well
known, Mermod, in St. Croix, Switzerland, shipped the movements to
Jacot & Son in New York City. Jacot fitted them into American-made oak
cases. Similar movements sold elsewhere, such as in Europe, were in
differently styled cases.
