Hi, I just acquired a music roll, the full label is as follows;
MelOdee Song Roll
5016
'Down By the River'
Copyrighted 1923 J.H. Remick & Co.
Creamer & Layton
Played by Edythe Baker
I've heard that Edythe Baker rolls are hard to come by? Maybe
someone can tell me if this is really on record as being played by
her, or could it just be like a name that another arranger put on
to imitate her? I checked bluesrolls.com for their Edythe Baker
rolls and I didn't find this one, but I did find another MelOdee
Song Roll by her.
There is a bit of paper feathering on the right, some small rips,
and I am going to repair with acid free pH-balanced scrap booking
tape by Scotch. It's very thin clear tape and seems to hold well.
If anyone would be interested in hearing the piece, I will be making
a low quality recording of it soon for those that wish to contact me.
If the owner of bluesrolls.com would like to arrange to recut the
song for everyone, maybe we could work out something.
