Since we acquired our Weber PEDA (Pedal/Electric Duo-Art) grand, we've
discovered that sometime in its history someone decided the expression
box was redundant(!) and disabled most of it by removing the knife
valves, the compensator and other pneumatics, and the linkages
connecting the accordion valves to the expression box.
Recreating these components would be somewhat difficult, so I'm hoping
one of you might have some leftover bits and pieces that would help our
restoration efforts. We have located a near twin to this piano in
England, so we can recreate some of the components via pictures and
measurements, but finding real parts would be far preferable.
What makes finding parts somewhat tricky in the US is that this is
a UK-built Weber pedal electric grand. It was built ca. 1932, as
best we can determine, but it used components from the late 20's
(the expression box is dated 3/28, for example). It has the Temponamic
knob, and other early style controls.
If anyone going to the AMICA convention this weekend may have usable
parts, please track down Bennett Leedy, who will be working on this
piano. Otherwise contact me. Questions, answers, advice all welcomed.
