John Dousmanis of New York City kindly loaned me his original 1902
Aeolian Grand roll catalog. I have scanned it into PDF format and
it is available on my web site:

This 126-page catalog emerged as a very large 36 meg PDF file.
I passed it through Acrobat's optimization routine, but as it is a
bit-mapped file, it still emerges as a 4 meg file, striking a balance
between file size and legibility.
I have a number of original roll catalogs and other original documents,
and would like to do the same with them. However, my personal web
site has nowhere near the capacity for a collection of such large
files. What I perceive needed is an "angel" who would be kind enough
to make available a terabyte size web site for such a project.
Thoughts of others?
Scanning such documents is not difficult, but is quite labor intensive.
However, by scanning a few pages every day, little by little, they will
emerge. This is becoming yet another interesting adventure.
