Well, I've moved three pianos. In my younger days I was barely
able to afford the $50 for the piano, so "do it yourself". I didn't
co-ordinate, I hired myself and just went to U-haul or equivalent
and rented their bumper hitch adapter and small trailer. Then I used
cotton clothesline, and our older blankets, and recruited the seller
and his neighbors so four of us could just set it on the trailer.
I tied and padded it down.
By now it was past 8 P.M. and traffic was small, so I could drive slow,
and avoid potholes. Again at home, friends lifted it off, one per
corner. They celebrated with a beer while I took trailer back, as it
was hourly rental. This worked for three moves.
The fourth move was all expressway, 65 MPH from Milwaukee to Rochester,
New York. No damages, and not even retuned until it had time to
stabilize. (Okay, I have no ear -- it was a few years.)
