On October 4th, 2004, I purchased a Weber Duo-Art Art-Case that was
advertised in the MMD. After the check arrived, I made arrangements
to have it shipped to me here in Israel; it took forever for the mover
to pick it up, but finally it was on its way and arrived safely here.
I found that unfortunately it was missing a few parts but I had a set
of Duo-Art parts and managed to get most of the other parts through
friends, etc. It sat in my living room until my piano tech had room
for it in the workshop for restoration. Around a year ago, I stripped
the piano down and sent it to be restored to pristine condition,
meanwhile, I started to restore the Duo-Art mechanism myself.
It has taken a long time, but I'm happy to report that the piano is now
finished as is the Duo-Art, and on July 4th the piano will be delivered
and I will start installing the mechanism. I believe that I have almost
everything I need to bring the piano to full functionality; a couple of
levers still need to be replaced but the piano can work with-out them.
In the meanwhile, while I'm waiting for them, I'm looking forward to
setting it up and start enjoying the many Duo-Art rolls that I have yet
to hear. I'll post updates when the piano is fully functional,
including pictures of before/after restoration.
best regards,
Eliyahu Shahar
