Hello James, After having visited Dorset 18+ times (and the very early
beginnings of this incredible event), my wife and I have a fair
knowledge of the area. We generally book early at an inn or hotel in
the Salisbury area and hire (rent) a car. However, if you find lodging
in Salisbury, there is a bus that runs to and from the grounds during
the day from the local bus station.
On the occasion of not finding accommodations or deciding late to
go, we have contacted Linda at History in Harmony. She has found
us excellent lodging. She may well be able to find transportation
for you if you choose not to hire a car. You can contact her at
<linda@historyinharmony.com> or contact Boz Oram at
<boz.oram@andover25.fsnet.co.uk>. Linda and Boz are great to work with
and both love the fairground organs, dance organs and traction engines.
While at Dorset, be sure to stop by Roger Burville's compound. Although
he will be there this year minus his very well known DeKluisberg Mortier,
he will have an organ in its place. Roger is President of MOOS and a
member of MBSI. You'll enjoy visiting with him. Our 62-key Bruder may
well be in his compound again this year. We'd like for you to see and
hear it before it returns to the U.S.
Enjoy your trip and stay as many days as possible at Dorset to get the
most from it. You can purchase an extended pass on their web site which
will save you some money.
