Seek Seldom Heard Ragtime Tunes on Orchestrions
By Stephen Kent Goodman

Dear Fellow MMDers, This year I was invited to do a workshop at the
West Coast Ragtime Festival in Sacramento, an annual musical festival
that many of you are familiar with. My subject will be focused at the
relationship between coin-operated pianos, orchestrions and band
organs in public places and how they influenced the spread of ragtime
and, inversely, how hearing ragtime on these machines promoted their
use and markets.

I would like to invite owners of instruments with seldom heard rag
rolls to contribute a piece or two on a standard VHS video tape,
to be used at this seminar. Full credit will be given you and your
instrument(s).

You may have some very rarely heard rags tucked away in your roll
libraries that would be greatly appreciated by this audience, and
at the same time share the fact you are a collector and showcase
an instrument.

Responses by August 1st are appreciated. Please contact me for the
correct address to send tapes to. Please direct your responses and
questions to me at <StephenKent49@sbcglobal.net>.

Thank you,
Stephen Kent Goodman
