Vinyl Hoses
By Robbie Rhodes

I didn't know any better in 1960 so I installed clear (yellow) vinyl
hoses in the drawer of my Ampico grand. A decade later I found an
oily substance that smelled like kerosene on the outer surface of
the hoses, and the inner surfaces were fouled with oil and dust.
A chemist told me the smell was indeed kerosene, added to the vinyl
as a plasticizer. So I replaced the vinyl with Neoprene hose.
Live and learn...
