Any serious Welte enthusiast should own, or at least borrow by
inter-library loan, Charles Davis Smith's three-volume Welte catalog,
"The Welte-Mignon: Its Music and Musicians." It was published by
AMICA and is now out of print.
This truly magnum opus not only lists, with composer and title indexes,
all known Welte-Mignon rolls, but gives a detailed history of the
German company and its American offshoot. Included are biographies of
the composers and the artists who recorded for Welte.
