Clark "A" rolls 509, 922 & 1086
By Frank Himpsl

In response to Bob Stewart's question [060419 MMDigest], these are
the tune line-ups for Clark A-rolls Nos. 509, 922 and 1086 :

Clark A-Roll No. 509 "Top Notch Hits"
 1. Choo Choo (I Gotta Hurry Home) - Duke Ellington's first record
 2. Dear One
 3. All Alone
 4. My Twilight Rose
 5. Tennessee
 6. Tessie (Stop Teasin' Me)
 7. Haunting Melody
 8. No One Knows What It's All About
 9. Jefferson Davis
10. Doo Wacka Doo

Clark A-Roll No. 922 "Dee-Lite-Ful"
 1. What'll You Do?
 2. Did You Mean It?
 3. Marvelous
 4. Song Is Ended, The
 5. Our American Girl
 6. Who's That Knockin' At My Door?
 7. Is She My Girl Friend?
 8. Hours I Spent With You, The
 9. I'm Wonderin' Who
10. Among My Souvenirs

Clark A-Roll No. 1086 "Rhapso-Dance"
 1. Do Something
 2. My Sin
 3. If You Like Me Like I Like You
 4. Why Did You Teach Me To Love You?
 5. Pretty Little Thing
 6. I've Got A Feeling I'm Falling
 7. Soul Stuff
 8. Blue Hawaii
 9. Mother's Boy
 10. Futuristic Rhythm

Of these three rolls I believe only Clark A-922 has been recut, by Don
Rand in early 2003.

> I would also be interested in getting the numbers of any A rolls
> you have for the Western Electric Selectra.

Selectra rolls seem to turn up so infrequently that I doubt entire
catalogs were provided in that format. It might have been possible
to special-request a given title as a Selectra roll. The only copy of
Clark A-1086 which I've seen has the added Selectra perforations.
I've only noted Selectra perforations on Clark, Columbia and Capitol
label rolls (maybe USM as well). I haven't kept a separate listing
of rolls originally issued with these control perforations.

All best,
Frank Himpsl - Valley Forge Music Roll Co.
