Bruce Grimes has brought to our attention a Pedal "O" Steinway,
serial number 149281, with a 65/88-note tracker bar.  My wife, Halie,
and I have exactly the same piano, serial number 149489, in our home
in the Seattle area.  Its mechanism has not been altered in any way.
It has the Themodist system.  We have paperwork on the piano to show
that it went from the Steinway factory to the Aeolian factory in
January, 1912.  Presumably, serial number 149281 was built earlier.

It would be of interest to know just how many of these were built and
how many remain.  The piano itself is of the best quality with clear
and crisp sounds and it is a pleasure to play.  Anyone else got one
of these?
