A monaural 10-inch LP recording of this instrument, made in the Museum,
was issued by Decca in the UK in Jan. 1959:
Orchestrion Organ 1879
DECCA LF 1310
I would think it would be recorded in stereo by that time but I don't
believe one was ever issued.
The disc contains selections from "Veronique", "The Arcadians", "The
Bohemian Girl" and "The Merry Widow" -- tuneful airs from a long gone
era but well suited to the organs period sound and refined voicing.
The sleeve note gives a full outline of its history including stop
assembly; altogether an excellent production and a credit to all
concerned.
In the early 1960's Decca produced quite a number recordings of fair-
and dance-organs, including several from George Cushing's Thursford
collection in Norfolk. It would be nice to see these released on CD,
perhaps as a bargain box -- unlikely, perhaps, but one can hope.
