I just ran across Steinway # 149281, a pedal "O" in a museum. It
is used as a piano and referred to as "that old piano". The top action
is out (post clear plastic tubing era); I think the tuner may have it
-- am checking.
All the levers are still there, the exhausters intact, the stack and
everything else is also there. Needs block, probably board and bridges,
too, although it still has more oomph as a piano than most anything out
there. They'd be happy to have the rest of the player parts ripped
out...
I rebuilt [Steinway] #150xxx 15 years ago, a fabulous 88/65-note
player, truly awesome. There were only a couple hundred of these made.
Finally sold it last year. It's here on the East Coast; well, east of
Ohio, but six hours from me and I already have more pianos (Steinways)
that a sane person should have.
Anyone interested? I think a good trade of a good newer piano could
do it. Or, if you have an empty "X" or "O", these parts could be what
you need. Contact me at <taxkwaxak@enter.net>
