If you are looking for a source of info on coatings in spray cans,
look no further than this company: http://www.eastwood.com/ They
supply the hot rod and old car people. The web site is filled with
information about the products they sell. They have a wider selection
than even the big box stores do.
They have a number of coatings in different colors that mimic the
anodized coating on metal parts -- clear coatings that cover them.
They also have a selection of coatings for rust conversion/covering
and stops.
They also have a very large selection of powder-coating powders,
including chrome and colored chrome, that for small parts can be
applied and set [fused] in an old electric stove oven.
_Do not_ use the oven for cooking after! I mention that only because
I know somebody that did it in the household oven, while the 'better
half' was away. Needless to say, when she got back, they bought a new
fancy stove and oven. The ovens in the stoves people throw out work
usually okay because they don't get used as much as the stove unit
does.
The spray unit for powder coating and the basic colors are sold by
Harbor Freight and are made by the same company as the Eastwood basic
unit.
