Valve Washers of Patent Leather
By Gary Peterford

I just experienced redoing all my player valves. Using Player Piano
Co. #692 washers doesn't work. I should have stayed with the porous
leather type. The patent leather seems to leak against the metal
plates. I double-checked all the clearances and that is okay. I have
to give Player Piano Co. a sample of what the piano was using before.
Anybody else have or had the same problem?
