The idea of Amateur Organ Builders getting together seems like a fun
thing to do. Meeting and talking with other builders has always been
one of my reasons for going to organ rallies. Using an organ rally
as a meeting event to get together seems like a logical thing to do.
Most rallies have many examples of home built organs. This would give
potential builders a chance to talk to other builders first hand.
I would suggest two rally sites and dates for such a "get together".
The first is at Knoebel's Grove Amusement Park in Elysburg,
Pennsylvania. The dates are June 9-11. Two years ago, we had a rally
at this location, and it was probably one of our biggest rallies:
there were approximately 20 large organs and 20 small organs, many
were home-built. The other rally is at Crossroads Village in Flint,
Michigan. The dates for this rally are July 14-15.
Everyone is invited to these events, and it is not necessary to
register if you just want to come and see the organs. If you have an
organ and want to bring it, you should register. After these events
there is usually more socializing, and lots of conversations about all
aspects of band organs, including construction, and music arranging.
If you are interested in registering, there are contact numbers at the
COAA web site, go the calendar of events page at
http://www.carouselorganassociation.org/calendar.html
I hope to see some of you builders at one or more of these rallies.
