Amateur Organ Builders Rendezvous 6-11 June 2006
By Bob Essex

Amateur organ builders (and those contemplating being so, or
in the stages of building an organ) and their wives and partners
are invited by Peter and Rosemarie Hood to attend the 3rd annual
Rollcutter Rendezvous, to be held at their extensive premises at
St Nicholas-at-Wade, Birchington, Kent, UK, from the 6th to the
11th of June 2006.

This is a relaxed informal gathering particularly aimed at amateur
builders of organs. It affords the chance to get together with many
other like-minded organ builders. In the large marquee there will
be a programme of talks and seminars on organ-building related
subjects. The evenings are for social time with a buffet, drinks
and entertainment. On Friday, cream teas will be served whilst the
winners of the Rollcutter awards for excellence will be announced.

For those with caravans, motorhomes and tents, and for daily
attendees, there are allocated pitches on which to set up individual
displays. For those needing accommodation, Rosemarie and Peter can
supply details of B&Bs and guest houses in the locality. Contact
them at <rollcutter@btopenworld.com>.

As usual, a separate marquee is set up for wives and partners to
display and sell crafts of many kinds. This is also an occasion for
wives and partners, who may not wish to spend all their time talking
organ building, to socialise and visit local places of interest.

This year's event will have two additional, optional coach trips.
On Tuesday there will be a day-trip to France (passports required).
On Wednesday there will be a coach trip to "Finchcocks", a Georgian
manor house and gardens at Goudhurst, Kent, with its large collection
of historical keyboard instruments and barrel organs.

This year, as last year, we shall once more be delighted to welcome
international friends from Europe and America. The site is just about
half an hour from the Dover passenger ferry terminal and from the
Channel Tunnel terminal.

And, as last year, the attendance cost, which includes site
facilities, drinks, buffet and entertainment is amazingly small.
The two coach trips however do have additional costs. Details can
be obtained from Peter and Rosemarie at <rollcutter@btopenworld.com>
Details will also appear shortly on their web site,
http://rollcutter.com/ or contact me on <bobessex@aol.com>.
