Robbie, Surely there's a way to legally publish the "lyrics only"
for a copyrighted song? I download lyrics all the time from reputable
sites. My understanding was that you could not publish both notation
and lyrics together. For instance, this "disclaimer" at

[ The World Wide Web ("www") is quite different from a cozy research
[ library. We believe that Mechanical Music Digest, which strives to
[ be a 'reputable' Internet publication, must obey the same laws that
[ govern the print publishers. The only completely legal way to
[ reprint or republish a copyrighted work is to obtain license from
[ the copyright owner.
[
[ Could we "bend the rules" a little bit? A friendly lawyer simply
[ said, "I wouldn't take the chance, Robbie. Even if a charge of
[ infringement isn't upheld by the court, you can't afford lawyers
[ like me to defend you in a lawsuit brought by a copyright owner."
