With the end of the Christmas season, I have finely caught up with
orders relating to the Antique Musical Christmas Tree Stand. It
seems many of these stands are still turning up that do not have the
cast iron tree cup. Without these cups there is no way to hold the
Christmas tree.
I am writing to the MMDigest to let you all know I have had another
batch of these cups cast at the foundry. I have sold many now and have
other photos to share with you as well. To share these I have now
added a full web page to my web site dedicated to "Cast Iron Tree Cups"
at http://studio801.com/Casttreecup.htm
If anyone is looking to purchase a tree cup, I have them two ways.
One way is the way I got them, directly from the foundry, with only the
hole for the trunk of the tree: price $75.00, you pay $8.00 shipping &
handling.
The other way is drilled and tapped with three tree-securing screws
(T-type or square type) as the cups were originally made. These are
also drilled to fit the stand dimensions sent. The price is $97.00,
postage paid.
The biggest difference between the vintage cups and the cups I had cast
is that my cups are flat in the inside bottom, where the tree fits.
I wanted a way to tell my cups from vintage cups. (I am not trying
to cheat other collectors, now or in the future, in making these
replacement cups.)
