Weber Pianola Grand Piano
By Jason Fisher

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

Dear all, I have just bought a Weber 88-note Pianola 6' grand piano
by Aeolian and wanted to ask a few questions. Firstly, a friend of
mine has the same piano (only a bit later) fitted with the full Duo-Art
system, and I noticed his piano does not have a primary pouch box
mounted behind the spool box in front of the piano action which mine
does. So his tubing goes straight from the tracker bar, through the
keyboard and to the stack, whereas mine goes from the tracker bar to
a long chest (primary pouches?) and then from there to the stack.
I just wondered why there was the need to have this pouch box when his
doesn't and what its function is.

Secondly, how difficult or desirable would it be to convert it into
a Duo-Art? Are D-A tracker bars available, as well as the expression
boxes, etc.? I have just started to regulate the piano action so I can
at least use it as a normal piano, so no doubt I will have many more
questions as I begin the restoration process. Any advice anyone has to
offer would be gratefully received!

Many thanks,
Jason Fisher
