Note that, happily, this area is outside the congestion charge zone!
To move away from practical details, I would like to say - as I have
already said to some of you (apologies for the repetition) - that we
have been touched by the many messages we have received from you, from
all round the world. Dan was blessed with true friends! This will
be a chance for us to gather together in celebration and thanksgiving,
and we will remember Dan with music, readings and personal
recollections. (In fact, if anyone would like to take part in some
way, please do let me know. I am currently putting together an order
of service.)
Some of you have kindly asked whether there will be a collection
at the memorial service for charity. As you know, Dan was a strong
supporter of several charities and organisations, but there's one
in particular that would seem to be a fitting choice, given Dan's
compassion and caring for others, combined with a love of performing
at the pianola: "POD - making children happy in hospital" raises funds
to send children's entertainers to hospitals around the country to
bring a little magic, fun and laughter to sick children.
(www.podcharity.org.uk) As they say of themselves, "out of a pod come
seeds, the seeds of fun, laughter and feeling better". And we all
enjoyed fun, laughter and feeling better in Dan's company!
Back to the practicalities, if you would be kind enough to give me
a provisional RSVP it would be most helpful. We won't hold you to
your response! But it would give us a general idea of numbers,
and so help with seating and catering arrangements.
And please don't hesitate to pass this email to others who may be
interested to know the details of the memorial service.
I look forward to hearing from you.
With best wishes to you all
Roanne
