Under Floor Heat Causes Player Piano Failure
By Vincent Morgan
I have been watching this train of thought, but have not noticed anyone
suggesting putting a low, flat pan of water on the floor under the piano
or a humidifier in the room. In New York City we don't have any under
the floor heating system, but our steam radiators do a real number on
player pianos.
We solved that by turning off all the radiators except the one farthest
from our Ampico piano and putting an evaporating radiator pan in the
working radiator and a humidifier at the end of the room where the
piano is. The problem was solved and we can now enjoy our Ampico and
entertain guests year around.
